I turned a year older this week. It wasn’t loud. I didn’t want it to be.

There’s something about birthdays that always brings a deeper stillness for me. I tend to go dark. Every year, I hype it up, and then the week of, I quietly hope no one remembers. But I want them to remember. Is that messed up? Maybe. Or maybe it’s just the way growth feels—uncomfortable, exposed, full of contradiction.
